SALT LAKE CITY — A man accused of using his car to intentionally hit female pedestrians at random all around the Wasatch Front is now facing additional charges after police say they have identified more victims.

Anh Duy Pham, 26, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with three additional counts of attempted murder. He now faces a total of nine counts of attempted murder, a first-degree felony; six counts of failing to stop at an accident with serious injury, a third-degree felony; and three counts of failing to stop at an accident with injury, a class A misdemeanor.

"We thank Salt Lake City Police Department detectives and our prosecutors for their continual work on this case to help ensure justice for our community," Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said.

The new charges accuse Pham of hitting women on March 2 and March 12.

On March 2, Dacia Davis was walking with friends and a dog near the intersection of 900 South and 1300 East when they reached a crosswalk. They began crossing the street when their light turned green.

"As Dacia enters the northbound lanes of the crosswalk, a white Toyota Avalon is observed turning the corner, accelerating, and purposely turning into oncoming lanes to strike Dacia. Dacia is then struck, thrown over the Toyota and thrown to the side of the road," according to charging documents.

Davis suffered a concussion and a broken hip. Another man with Davis suffered minor injuries.

Then on March 12, Jill Mortensen was walking near 166 N. T Street "when she heard vehicle tires squeal and observed a white vehicle accelerate around the corner and start to drive toward her," the charges state.

"Security footage shows Jill jumping behind garage cans to get away from the white Toyota, whose wheels are turned toward her," according to the charges.

Mortensen was thrown to the ground by the impact and knocked unconscious. She suffered a concussion and a bruise on her head, according to investigators.

Pham is also accused of hitting women on Aug. 22, 2023, Feb. 24, Feb. 28 and March 11.

After the March 11 incident at 600 W. North Temple that left a woman with critical injuries, police said they were able to track down Pham and his vehicle at Liberty Park on March 13. Investigators believed Pham was living out of his car. Investigators have not indicated what they believe Pham's motive is.
