LAS VEGAS — Three motorcyclists from St. George were killed Saturday in a Nevada crash involving a semitruck whose driver was allegedly driving drunk.

Nevada State Police Highway Patrol said officers responded to a crash on Saturday about 2:38 p.m. near the southern point of Nevada. A semitruck with a trailing unit was heading west on state Route 163, when it crossed into the eastbound travel lane and hit two motorcycles.

The two motorcycle riders and a passenger were all killed in the collision. They were identified by Nevada state police on Tuesday as Jeremy George Gebo, 44; Owen Merrell Hart, 22; and Athena Faye Taylor, 21. All three are from St. George.

The truck driver, Claude Rafiki, 29, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for investigation of impaired driving. The crash is still under investigation.

According to a GoFundMe* page, Hart and Taylor had gotten engaged in December.

"They were not just 'soon to be' partners in life, but also in their love for adventure, the outdoors, and the thrill of the open road and partners in spirit," the fundraiser states. "This was to be just the beginning of their love story, filled with dreams of a bright future. Owen and Athena were more than soulmates; they were best friends."

A Facebook post by Shane Carter said Gebo was his best friend, and Hart and Taylor were coworkers and friends.

"Life will not be the same without you guys. You were all loved so much! We will all ride together again someday," the post says.
