This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Boy do I ever have a sweet tooth! Besides exquisite chocolates, I also love ice cream, frozen custard and Italian Gelato. I was so happy to learn about a new Gelato shop located in West Bountiful!

Kim and Cece Bangerter had the desire to start their own business but until they discovered Gelato, an Italian ice cream, they weren't sure what their new venture would involve. They were living in Arizona when they fell in love with Gelato, but it wasn't until Kim was transferred to Utah that things took off.

Kim has a degree in business administration, but most of his experience came from the health care field. However, an Italian Gelato artisan taught the Bangerters how to make authentic Gelato. Using her recipes and mixing in a few flavors of their own, Kim and Cece launched Bellissimo Gelato in April of this year.

Bellissimo Gelato offers a rotating menu of 24 different Gelato flavors. The shop also has Italian sodas, Italian hot chocolate, Granita (an Italian smoothie made with fresh fruit) and brioche, which is similar to an ice cream sandwich. The Bangerters also sell baked goods, but Gelato is the true focus of their business. For the holiday season, Bellissimo Gelato is also offering Gelato pies.

Kim tells me Gelato is a healthier alternative than traditional ice cream because it's 100 percent natural, low in fat, has fewer calories and uses fresh fruit to make the unique flavors. He and Cece hand make their authentic Gelato every morning and hope to help educate their customers about its benefits since many people are unfamiliar with it.

Thus far Bellissimo Gelato has been well received. Kim has been delighted to see his dream of becoming a business owner come to pass. Once the business gets settled, he hopes to eventually open a second location.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
