RIVERDALE — Police shot and killed a man at a Sinclair gas station at 686 W. Riverdale Road on Sunday.

At 3:42 p.m. officers with the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force and Ogden Metro Gang Unit were assisting the Utah County Major Crimes Unit in the apprehension of a man believed to have been involved in a previous attempted homicide, according to Ogden police.

"The incident resulted in an officer-involved shooting involving three Ogden police officers and one Pleasant Grove police officer," police said in a statement.

Officers had been following the man and ended up at the gas station. Ogden police did not say what prompted the shooting or any details about how and where the man was shot. No details about the man's identity were provided.

One man was in handcuffs and appeared to be arrested, but police provided no details about him.

The Weber County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol Team will conduct an independent investigation into the police shooting. Police said more information would be released Tuesday morning.
