Yesterday on your forecast, the weatherman said we would have rain in the morning and showers in the afternoon. What is the difference? Lynn W.

Some of our forecaster lingo gets lost in translation sometimes! When a meteorologist referrs to rain he or she is talking about heavier precipitation. Showers, would be more scattered and lighter.
Hopefully that can help clear it up a bit.
