SALT LAKE CITY — A driver was hospitalized Thursday night after losing control of his SUV and crashing into a yard, police said.
Police were called to the scene at 11:08 p.m. after a crash near 1500 S. 800 East in the East Liberty Park neighborhood. The man, 30, was traveling at an "excessive speed" when he lost control of the vehicle, crashed into two parked cars and rolled the SUV, according to a news release.
The vehicle came to a rest upside-down next to a home, with the driver trapped inside. He was rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"The preliminary investigation shows the man was driving northbound on 800 East at a high rate of speed," before the crash, the release states. Investigators are still calculating the total amount of damage, which police said was "extensive."
The man's name has not been released.
