PAYSON — Two men were critically injured in a head-on collision Wednesday morning in Payson.
Payson Police Sgt. Noemi Sandoval said an 18-year-old man was driving a Honda east on state Route 198 near 1388 East. About 6 a.m., the car crossed into the westbound lanes and hit a Nissan head-on.
The driver of the Nissan, a 22-year-old man, and the Honda driver were both transported in critical condition to Mountain View Hospital, which is right down the road from the crash scene. The 18-year-old was then flown by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital, and the 22-year-old was driven by ambulance to that same hospital a few hours later.
Sandoval said both men remained in critical condition Wednesday evening.
The crash is being investigated to determine its cause. Sandoval said there was no indication of drugs or alcohol being involved, and the crash occurred while it was raining and still dark outside.
