OGDEN — Morgan asserted its dominance, once again, in the 3A North region, securing a commanding 37-14 victory over Ogden Friday night.

The Trojans wasted little time making a mark. Derrick Tilby kickstarted the offense early in the first quarter with a 34-yard touchdown reception from Beck Sheffield. The explosive play set an early tone for the Trojans offense, who continued that through the duration of the game.

A few minutes later, Sheffield connected with Zak Sargent on a 12-yard touchdown pass, propelling the Trojans to a 14-0 lead. While Morgan's offense flowed freely in the first quarter, Ogden struggled to advance the ball against the relentless Trojans defense.

In the second quarter, the Tigers managed to get on the scoreboard when Jayden Long caught a 5-yard pass from Kale Adams. Long's score cut into the Trojans' first-half lead, but the Tigers defense couldn't stave off the Trojans' offensive attack.

Morgan's ground game proved to be formidable, as well, with Jake Halls and Drew Korth combining for 108 yards on 14 carries.

Morgan senior Beau Johnson added to the Friday night showing with his four successful PATs and three field goals, including a made 55-yard field goal with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Johnson's shortest field goal of the night was from 25 yards out.

Sheffield demonstrated success under center by throwing for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-23 passing, cementing the Morgan victory.

Trojans head coach Jared Barlow praised Sheffield, saying, "Beck has a great mentality; he remains level-headed and focused, which is crucial for our team."

With the victory, the Trojans improved to a 4-0 record in region play. Morgan returns home to face Union, while Ogden hits the road on to take on Ben Lomond.
