There is a magical window on the Utah calendar that offers the choice between a ski day, a sunny hike, cuddling by the fireplace, or roasting s'mores over a campfire. This magical season is from late October to mid-April — the golden months of Utah recreation. The availability of all this recreation is also why multiple Ember homes are located in Park City and St. George.
Imagine owning a 1/8th share in a luxury second home in either Park City or St. George, or both. After all, they're within driving distance of the other. This means enjoying a snowy weekend in Park City and the next weekend playing golf through red rocks is no longer just a dream!
Even though Utah is the second driest state in the U.S. and might seem like a rocky, dry place from a distance, this very special time of year provides unique and exclusive activities that can be enjoyed across the entire state, all at the same time!
Salt Lake City
Obviously, this area is the central hub for finding things to enjoy in northern Utah. During the winter, it's cold but beautiful! Set right up against the Wasatch Mountains, this snowy backdrop is picturesque against the downtown skyline. From downtown it is just 12 minutes to the airport, 40 minutes to Park City, and within an hour to some of the greatest snow on earth up Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyons.
Park City
Just 40 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City and within an hour from the international airport, Park City is as special as it gets during the winter months. Skiing and snowboarding are world-class here in the Wasatch Mountains with multiple resorts within driving distance.
Park City, itself, is an enchanting city with a rich history and buildings that date back to the early 1800s. Independently owned and operated restaurants, bars, museums, and shops line the streets of Park City making it a place to easily get to what you are looking for and to encounter unexpected surprises.
Ember is currently building a luxury vacation home that you can co-own, right off Main Street in Park City. It is within walking distance to all that downtown Park City has to offer and a short drive from some amazing ski areas. This home will be the perfect 1/8 share for snow-loving and luxury-living people. Check out our Park City vacation home listing and home specs here.
As for the snow, Park City has two resorts on its front door: Deer Valley and Park City Mountain. Deer Valley has been voted the #1 ski resort in North America by numerous publications for its many sunny days, continuously fresh powder snow, and for its world-class amenities.
Park City Mountain is the largest ski resort in the country boasting almost 20,000 total acres with over 7,000 skiable acres. You could spend weeks on end here and not see the entire area. No wonder this area was the host to the 2002 Winter Olympics. And now you can enjoy that same snow for several months out of the year!
St. George
And now, in these same colder months (October to March) you can travel three hours south of Salt Lake City and be in an entirely different outdoor world. In October, the average daily high temperatures are still in the mid-70s with nighttime lows in the 50s, according to Weatherspark. This means you can still spend all day outside and what is better than golfing, hiking, biking, playing pickleball, riding ATVs and dirtbikes in 70-degree weather? Not a whole lot!
St. George is within a two-hour drive from multiple national parks including Zions, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef and the Grand Canyon North Rim. State parks like Sand Hollow and Snow Canyon surround St. George making it a haven for anyone that craves adventuring in pleasant outdoor weather during the winter months.
And if golfing is more your thing, then imagine playing world-class golf in 70-degree weather with the red rock desert as your backdrop. St. George is home to 11 golf courses with another 10 located in the surrounding area. You could say golfers are big fans of vacationing in Southern Utah since there is a golf course for every town.
Ember currently has 1/8 shares available for eight luxury vacation homes in and around the St. George area. Depending on what you want to be close to or the amenities you want access to, there is the perfect Ember home for you in St. George. See our St. George listings and home specs here.
With all the variety that there is to do in Utah during the winter, the most difficult decision is deciding where you want your winter vacation home base to be: snow-covered mountains or red rock desert. And if you can't decide, it's all within driving distance!
