Missionary dies while serving in the Philippines

SALT LAKE CITY — A missionary from Washington who was serving in the Philippines died Sunday, a spokesperson for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said.

The missionary, Taylor Erin Maw, 20, is from Snoqualmie, Washington. Maw was called to serve in the Philippines Angeles Mission and had been serving since June 2022.

Maw had been in the hospital for treatment of an undetermined illness prior to her death. The cause of her death has not been determined.

The church issued a statement that reads, in part:

"We are deeply saddened to share news of the passing of a young missionary serving in the Philippines. ... We express our love and sincere condolences to Sister Maw's family, friends and the missionaries she was serving alongside. We pray they will each feel the peace and comfort of the Savior as they mourn her passing and honor her faithful missionary service."
