Beautiful scenery, plenty of outdoor recreation, a family-friendly atmosphere, booming business and a thriving economy — there's a lot to love about the Beehive State. Perhaps that explains why World Population Review reports that Utah has been the fastest-growing state in the U.S. from 2010 to 2023.

Yet with all this rapid growth, many Utahns may be wondering what government, business and community leaders are doing to keep pace with these changes. If you've got questions about Utah's future, economic outlook and more, here's a golden opportunity to get some answers and even a little inspiration for your business ventures.

The One Utah Summit is a biannual event alternating between northern and southern Utah where you can network with the state's top thought leaders, learn about pressing issues, explore business opportunities and give back to the community. Here's a snapshot of what you can expect at the 2023 One Utah Summit up north — and why you won't want to miss it.

Keynote speakers

In addition to hearing from Gov. Spencer Cox, First Lady Abby Cox and Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, you'll also get the chance to listen to some of Utah's best and brightest. Keynote speakers and panelists include former professional athletes, educators, government leaders and CEOs from top companies across the state. You can check out the full list of speakers online.

Breakout sessions

Along with a service project beginning after the morning session, you'll be able to attend one of several breakout sessions. For example, Room 6 will feature the topic, "Utah's Growth: Today's Actions Create Tomorrow's Future." According to recent findings from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah, the state's population is set to double over the next 50 years, so planning for the future has never been more critical. If you're concerned about what this growth means and what needs to happen to maintain quality of life in the state, come hear what local business, community and government leaders have to say.

Ginger Chinn, Vice President of Public Policy for the Salt Lake Chamber will moderate this discussion. The panel includes:

  • Sen. Jerry W. Stevenson
  • Rep. Jefferson Moss
  • Lucy Andre, General Counsel, Stadler US
  • Brandon Fugal, Chairman, Colliers International
  • Chris Roybal, President, Northern Utah Economic Alliance.

Governor's Awards

After lunch, the afternoon includes the Governor's Awards ceremony, a presentation on Utah's growth and a keynote address from Gov. Cox. You'll expand your professional network and leave with a greater understanding of what the future holds for the Beehive State. See the awardees here.

Startup Pitch

The night before the main event there will be a Startup Pitch Networking Event where Utah entrepreneurs will go head-to-head to present their best ideas to the judges. After judges rank the best ideas, the audience will pick a people's choice award recipient. Finalists will receive cash, in-kind prizes and tickets to the One Utah Summit where they can network further with Utah's business leaders.

The Startup Pitch is presented by the Utah Innovation Center, housed within the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, and powered by Kinect Capital (formerly VentureCapital.org) along with Weber State University's Hall Global Entrepreneurship Center.
