SALT LAKE CITY — Police late Wednesday were investigating a shooting they believe may be related to road rage.
A man was driving north on 300 West in Salt Lake City when he was shot. People in the area said they heard two gunshots and a car screeching away.
The man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, Salt Lake police said. His truck window was shattered and the interior was covered in blood.
The incident occurred near 1967 South and 300 West and prompted the temporary closure of 300 West from 1900-2100 South.
There does not appear to be a threat to the community related to the shooting, police said.
No arrests have been made.
"We don't have suspect information at this time. We are asking for anyone with any information to please contact the Salt Lake City Police Department," Salt Lake police spokesman Brandon Shearer said.
Police are looking for anyone who may have seen anything or that have camera footage. The incident occurred on a very busy intersection and police said they are hoping that video may help them understand who shot the gun and why.
Officers and crime lab technicians are on the scene to collect evidence and speak with witnesses. Any witnesses who left prior to the arrival of officers are being asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
