THE COLLEGE YEARS — College kids across the U.S. aren't necessarily known for being well-coiffed or 100% clean.

Rolling out of bed for that early class can mean kids show up in their PJs, with uncombed hair, or with the special sheen of missing a shower for several days. But many of them probably aren't going out of their way to make it worse.

The cross-country team at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, have gone out of their way to make it worse.

The team has reached viral status for their unique "team look" in their official roster photos. From scraggly facial hair to purposely bad haircuts, every single member of the team has curated an unforgettable look.

In this video, you'll see a glorious handlebar mustache fit for a Civil War general, an unforgettable long-spiked do, a brave soul with half a mustache, and much more. But that's not all — most team members have also done their best to pull awkward faces that take the goofiness up another notch.

Team member Josh Simboli, a Boise native, told KTVB that "destroying" their roster photos is a 10-year team tradition for Santa Clara team. This year, the university and CITIUS MAG, a track and field publication, leaned into it. The photos quickly went viral on Twitter and TikTok, and it's a wonder that they've never gone viral before.

It's unclear if the boys each year think about how these pictures will live in the university's archives forever. However, Josh is thinking about one consequence — he's expecting a call from his mom to tell him to shave his mustache and cut his hair.
