TAYLORSVILLE — A driver was shot in the face during a road rage incident Tuesday just before 5 p.m., according to Taylorsville police.
Sgt. Kersdon Bennett of the Taylorsville Police Department stated that the incident took place near 3100 West and 6200 South when two drivers, one in a blue Ford pickup truck and one in a white Tesla, got into an argument ending with the Tesla driver receiving a gunshot wound to the face.
A couple of witnesses saw the altercation, and officers responded to reports of a gunshot; paramedics transported the Tesla driver to a local hospital. The patient was stable but the driver's condition is not known.
According to statements from the Taylorsville Police Department, both drivers are cooperating with the investigation. As far as the investigators currently know, there were only two people involved in the incident.
6200 South was closed for around an hour after the incident, but the scene has now been cleared.
Investigators are still talking with witnesses and have stated that it is too early in the investigation to determine exactly what occurred or if there will be charges going forward.
"We would caution people during rush-hour traffic to keep calm and you'll arrive at your destination soon enough. Road rage is something that causes problems for yourself and others and gets super dangerous, obviously," Bennett said.
