SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz will travel north to begin their preseason — far, far north.

The team announced Wednesday it will open up the four-game preseason in Edmonton, Canada, on Oct. 2 against the Toronto Raptors as part of the NBA Canada Series.

"We're excited to be featured in the preseason NBA Canada Series," Jazz general manager Justin Zanik said in a statement. "It is a unique opportunity for our organization to engage with the league's Canadian fans in Edmonton. Our players and staff are looking forward to it."

The game will take place in Rogers Place, the home to the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. There has not been an NBA game played at Rogers Place before. The Raptors played a preseason game against the Denver Nuggets in Edmonton at the University of Alberta in 2008.

After the stop in northern Canada, the Jazz will head to Portland for a matchup with the Blazers on Oct. 4. Utah will play its final two preseason games at home. The Jazz will face the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 11 before finishing the preseason slate against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 14.

The NBA regular season schedule has yet to be released.
