TOOELE — A man already scheduled to go to trial next month on allegations of supplying marijuana and alcohol to two teenage girls and then sexually assaulting them has been arrested again while out of jail on pre-trial release.
Jonathan David Beebe, 34, was arrested Tuesday by agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force for investigation of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The investigation began in January when officers suspected child pornography was being shared on a peer-to-peer network. On Tuesday, agents served a search warrant at Beebe's home in Tooele.
"Mr. Beebe admitted to using a cellphone to download child pornography and put it to a SD card and then uses a DVD player to watch the items downloaded. When he is done with the illegal images, he deletes it and switches it out with the phone," according to a police booking affidavit. "Mr. Beebe admitted to viewing child pornography for approximately a year and has been addicted to adult pornography for over a decade."
Last year, Beebee was charged in 3rd District Court with rape of a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and forcible sodomy, first-degree felonies; plus two additional counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony. In that case, Beebe is accused of sexually assaulting two girls, 17 and 13, on separate occasions, after providing them with alcohol and marijuana.
While serving the search warrant, task force agents spotted what they believed was a "mushroom grow" in an upstairs bedroom and notified the Tooele County Sheriff's Office, according to separate arrest warrant. The sheriff's office returned to the residence with their own search warrant and found drugs, including psychedelic mushrooms being grown by Beebe, and THC products, the warrant states.
Beebe was charged Wednesday afternoon in 3rd District Court with producing drugs, a second-degree felony; drug possession, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.
