TAYLORSVILLE — A man wanted in connection with several armed robberies over the past few weeks in Salt Lake County was arrested following a chase with police.

David Converse Harris, 33, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Wednesday for investigation of four counts of aggravated robbery and failing to stop at the command of police.

On Wednesday, Taylorsville responded to a robbery at True Value Hardware, 4860 S. Redwood. Harris brandished a handgun at two teen employees working the cash register and demanded money, according to a police booking affidavit. Harris fled in an SUV after receiving several hundred dollars, police say.

Officers spotted Harris and chased him. After spiking the tires, the pursuit came to an end near 800 E. Vine Street where Harris got out of the vehicle and ran, the affidavit states. Police caught up with Harris and arrested him and reported recovering a "black realistic BB gun that was constructed of metal and was a facsimile of a Glock handgun."

As detectives further investigated Harris, they learned that he was also wanted in connection with a series of robberies in South Salt Lake.

Police believe he is responsible for an armed robberies at: Maverik, 514 W. 3900 South on March 6; Boost Mobile, 2075 S. 700 East on March 9; and T-Mobile, 87 W. 3300 South on March 14.

Harris told police that after the True Value robbery, his plan was to leave the state and never be seen again, the affidavit states. Investigators also said that Harris admitted to being addicted to methamphetamine.
