HOLLADAY — A house in Holladay has been declared a "public nuisance" by the city and ordered closed for occupancy following the latest arrest there.

On Thursday, Unified police recovered a stolen vehicle at 1861 E. Severn Drive (4000 South) and arrested 40-year-old Crystal Ann Brereton.

The arrest came just a day after the Salt Lake County Health Department had closed the residence to occupancy due to methamphetamine being found inside, according to a police booking affidavit.

During a search of the home, "multiple documents belonging to multiple victims" — including stolen credit cards and other financial documents, as well as immigration papers — were found, in addition to distributable amounts of cocaine, meth and bath salts, the affidavit states.

The health department then posted signs around the house declaring it closed for occupancy.

On Thursday, however, Brereton "removed the notice from the main front entry door and entered the residence without health department or law enforcement consent," the affidavit alleges. She was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of two counts of drug possession, two counts of having someone else's bank card, violating a public health ordinance, maintaining or failing to remove a public nuisance, trespassing and tampering with an official notice.

According to Unified police, officers had received complaints about the house since August. Multiple search warrants have been served at the house since then, resulting in the seizure of drugs, stolen vehicles and other stolen property.

"Due to the ongoing and abundance of illegal activity being conducted at the residence of 1861 E. Severn Drive, the house has been deemed a public nuisance by Holladay," according to the affidavit.
