A woman was shot about 2:30 p.m. during an attempted robbery at the African Braiding Salon and Hair Supply, 3580 S Redwood, said West Valley Police Sgt. Carson Liljenquist.
A man and two women entered the salon brandishing a gun and demanded money. At some point, a 40-year-old woman was shot. She was hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, Liljenquist said.
The sergeant did not know if she was a customer or an employee at the salon. He did not have any other details about what led to the shooting.

Police originally believed one gunman was involved and said he fled in a maroon or dark-colored passenger vehicle. But after reviewing surveillance video, officers realized that three people were involved in the incident. Police described them as a middle-aged Black man with dreadlocks and two Black women in their late teens.
"We have several units out in the area attempting to locate (them)," Liljenquist said.
