SALT LAKE CITY — Check back here for the latest scores from all the Week 6 high school football games across the state.
Game of the Week: Timpview at Alta
Why did we choose this game?
There's some heavy hitters in 5A's Region 7, with Timpview standing at the top of the KSL.com High School Top 20+1 rankings with a No. 5 spot and the first team outside of the SEC-like Region 4 that makes up the top four spots in the rankings.
The Thunderbirds may only have a 3-2 record, but their losses have come against the No. 2 and No. 4 ranked teams in this week's poll.
The Thunderbirds get a chance to establish some region dominance (or at least take a convincing step forward) in a road game against a 3-2 Alta team. On the surface the Hawks don't seem to be much of a threat to the Thunderbirds, but they have wins over two Region 1 opponents, Davis (37-14) and Layton (34-27), to show they can hang with good teams.
Timpview can't afford a loss, especially with undefeated Mountain Ridge having the success its had this season. If Timpview wants to be a contender in Region 7, it has to make a statement against Alta (or at least get the win). But Alta will be ready for the fight.
