SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident after a man died in Salt Lake City early Wednesday.
The man was reportedly having a mental health episode and laying in the middle of the road near 1300 South and 860 East at around 4:45 a.m., according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Cracroft. A car drove by, hit the man, then left the scene, Cracroft siad.
Family members were trying to get the man off the road before he was hit and helped him afterward, but the man died at the scene, Cracroft said.
Police are looking for the car involved. No vehicle description was provided, but Cracroft said police found the bumper of a 2017-2020 Ford Mustang in the road.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
