SALT LAKE CITY — Check back here for the latest scores from all the Week 2 high school football games across the state.
Game of the Week: Weber at American Fork
Why did we choose this game?
For the last few years, Weber has been an up-and-coming program in Region 1 and are the favorites to win the division. But their path is daunting as it faces one of the toughest schedules before region play in September. The Warriors found themselves on the opposite end of a 20-point deficit against Bingham in Week 1, and it doesn't get any easier in Week 2.
Weber dropped one spot to No. 12 in this week's KSL.com Top 20+1 poll but are still one of the top teams in the state. The problem is they're running up against the No. 2 team in the state in American Fork, who dropped 60 points on Granger last week. Oh, and the Cavemen held Granger to no points.
Check out Boise State commit Maddux Madsen, who has been picking apart teams for the last few years. Last week, the senior signal caller threw five touchdowns on 19 passing attempts and had an 84.2% passing accuracy. Can Weber's defense hold him more than Granger? That's what makes this game worth watching.

Chargers Kickoff Classic
Outside of the regular Friday Night Lights this week is a three-game Saturday event with some heavy hitters in the sports. In the first-ever "Charger Kickoff Classic" at Corner Canyon High, six top programs in the state will battle it out on the gridiron.
The event, which costs $10 for all three games, is definitely one you don't want to miss if you enjoy high school football.
"We are looking forward to hosting so many of Utah's top teams in our first-ever Charger Kickoff Classic," event organizer Robert Geertsen told KSL.com. "Our goal was to target who we felt were some of the best returning teams in Utah in 2021. We definitely succeeded."
The schedule is as follows:
- 11 a.m. — Brighton vs. Syracuse
- 3 p.m. — Timpview vs. Kearns
- 7 p.m. — Corner Canyon vs. East
