SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's number of COVID-19 cases has increased by 259 on Monday, with one more death and 2,087 vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.
The state now estimates there are 13,707 active cases of the disease in Utah. The rolling seven-day average number of positive cases per day is now at 518, according to the health department. The positive test rate per day for that time period reported with the "people over people" method is now 9%. The positive test rate per day seven-day average calculated with the "test over test" method is now 4.4%.
There are now 193 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 74 in intensive care, state data shows. About 68% of all intensive care unit beds in Utah are now occupied, including about 71% of ICU beds in the state's 16 referral hospitals. About 50% of non-ICU hospital beds are now occupied, according to state data.
A total of 857,750 vaccines have been administered in the state, up from 855,663 Sunday. A total of 556,791 people have received at least one vaccine dose, while 310,327 are now fully vaccinated, according to the health department. A total of 1,006,315 vaccine doses have now been shipped to Utah.
The new numbers indicate a 0.07% increase in positive cases since Sunday. Of the 2,251,204 people tested for COVID-19 in Utah so far, 16.7% have tested positive for COVID-19. The number of total tests conducted since the beginning of the pandemic is now 3,917,828, up 5,530 since Sunday. Of those, 3,083 were tests of people who had not previously been tested for COVID-19, according to the health department.
The death reported Monday was a Washington County man who was between the ages of 65 and 84 and was hospitalized when he died.
Monday's totals give Utah 375,109 total confirmed cases, with 14,913 total hospitalizations and 1,977 total deaths from the disease. A total of 359,425 Utah COVID-19 cases are now being considered recovered, according to the health department.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox is scheduled to provide a COVID-19 pandemic update at a news conference at 11 a.m. Thursday.
