MOAB — Officials are investigating after a body was found inside a burned vehicle just outside of Moab.
On Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a burned vehicle that appeared to have human remains inside, according to a Thursday news release from the Grand County Sheriff's Office. The officers discovered a pickup truck 30 miles northwest of Moab with a body inside.
Officers called the Utah State Fire Marshal as well as the Moab Fire Department to the scene to assist in the investigation and removing the body from the vehicle, according to the release.
The body was transported to the medical examiner's office for identification and to determine a cause of death, officials said.
The sheriff's office said that the investigation is ongoing and the death is considered to be suspicious.
Further details were not released.
