An effort to possibly "modernize" the Utah state flag didn't fly well with some senators, even though it did win enough support to move onto further debate in the Senate.

2. Traffic moving after 'major accident' on SR 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon

Four people were injured Sunday in a "major accident" that temporarily closed both directions of state Route 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

3. Salt Lake officials discover makeshift drug lab after fridge explodes in apartment building Saturday

Two people were arrested Saturday after an explosion in their Salt Lake City apartment led fire officials and police to find a "working and operational" clandestine drug lab.

4. Biden administration to unveil more climate policies, urges China to toughen emissions target

President Joe Biden's administration next week will release more policies it believes are needed to tackle climate change and is urging China to toughen one of its targets on greenhouse gas emissions, his top climate advisers said on Saturday.

5. Romney says impeachment trial is necessary for 'accountability ... truth and justice'

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said an impeachment trial is necessary to hold former President Donald Trump accountable for his alleged conduct postelection and inciting an insurrection.

1. Locals in the NFL: Chiefs, 'Big Red' Andy Reid carry each other to second straight Super Bowl

The Chiefs will face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7 at 4:30 p.m. MT on CBS in a battle between a top up-and-coming quarterback in the league against one many describe as "the GOAT."

2. Washington overcomes 12-point deficit to beat Utah on back end of Utes' road trip

Utah picked the wrong time to turn the ball over. The Utes committed two turnovers in the final minute of the game, only to see Washington pull away for a 83-79 win in a Sunday afternoon contest.

3. The Jazz are off to their best start in 14 years — can they sustain it?

Utah is 12-4 record, the team's best 16-game start since the 2006-07 season (a season that ended in the conference finals), and is currently enjoying an NBA-leading eight-game winning streak.

4. BYU digs deep against Pepperdine to lock down 4th straight win

Brandon Averette had 15 points and four assists, and Trevin Knell added 12 points on a season-high four 3-pointers as BYU grinded past Pepperdine, 65-54 to clinch a fourth-straight win Saturday night in the Marriott Center.

5. Co-leader after 3 rounds, Tony Finau finishes 4 shots back at The American Express

Kim held off Cantlay by one stroke with a four-day total of 23-under-par 265 Sunday, and Finau finished four shots back for fourth place at The American Express in La Quinta, California.
