(KSL News) A man's OnStar system in his truck helped save him today after he plunged off an embankment into the Big Cottonwood Creek.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's Deputies say the On-Star system sent them a notice the truck was involved in a frontal impact crash. It also gave the GPS coordinates to the truck's location.
Dirk Roesler, with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department, said, "With the color of his car, the bronze vehicle, they could have very well blended in with the rocks and not been observed for some time."
Deputies found 60-year-old William Ross, his dog and his truck in a creek. They were able to pull them both from the water.
Ross was flown to the hospital in serious condition.
