SALT LAKE CITY — A vacant fast-food restaurant in Salt Lake City was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning

Firefighters were called about 11:40 a.m. to the old Sconecutter, 2040 S. State, after a passerby saw smoke. By the time crews arrived, the building was fully involved, said Salt Lake Fire Capt. Anthony Burton.

The fire was fought defensively, he said, meaning firefighters did not enter the structure. As of noon the building had partially collapsed.

Burton said all of the utilities in the building had been turned off for some time.

A cause of the fire was still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
