SALT LAKE CITY — The warehouse wholesaler Costco is updating its shopping policy to require all members and employees to wear a face mask while in their stores starting on May 4.
The wholesaler made the announcement on its website, stating that the new requirement comes to protect everyone while at the store. It requires “a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco.”
The requirement follows CDC guidelines and does not include children under the age of 2 or individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to medical conditions.
“The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing,” Costco said, asking for shoppers to continue to observe appropriate distancing while in their stores.
This update comes as Costco has also limited the number of shoppers allowed inside the store and has closed the seating area of their food court.
