BLUE CREEK, Box Elder County — A 3.9 magnitude earthquake rattled residents of Box Elder County near the ghost town Blue Creek Tuesday morning.

The earthquake struck about 13 miles northwest of Tremonton about 10:15 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was a "shallow event" only 2.2 miles underground, said Mike Zundel, a spokesman for Box Elder County.

"We have received many reports of people feeling it. No reports of damage or injury," Zundel added.

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake last hit Utah in April, shaking the southwest portion of the state near Cedar City.

Just a few months earlier, in February, earthquakes in Salt Lake rattled residents while over 100 small earthquakes shook the Bluffdale area in a little more than a week.
