SALT LAKE CITY — Two juveniles were injured Wednesday afternoon in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting, police said.

The shooting took place about 1:45 p.m. near 1057 N. Catherine Street (near 1400 West), according to Salt Lake Police detective Greg Wilking.

The injuries to the juveniles were not life-threatening, Wilking said. He was not sure how many shots were fired or where the juveniles were hit. Wilking said the juveniles are in their mid-teens, but did not release their exact ages.

They were taken to a local hospital for treatment, Wilking said.

As of 2:30 p.m., detectives were still looking into what happened, Wilking said. A description of the vehicle or any people thought to be connected to the shooting was not released.

Investigators also did not yet know the relationship between the juveniles and the alleged shooters, Wilking said. He did not know if the shooting was related to any gang activity.

Police will be doing door-to-door canvassing in the area to find out more about what happened, Wilking said.
