SPANISH FORK — Multiple agencies responded to a 50-acre fire in Spanish Fork Canyon Wednesday evening, according to officials.
The fire was located on the north side of Highway 6 near Thistle Junction, Jason Curry of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands said.

The flames were initially reported at 4:00 p.m. and measured about one acre in size, according to fire officials. An hour later, the fire had grown to about 15 acres. By 10:30 p.m., the fire had reached about 50 acres, officials said.
The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but officials said it was human caused.
Fire officials expected to stay on scene overnight and possibly for the next few days as they worked to contain the fire and monitor hot spots.
Overhead power lines remain a concern, officials said; but as of Wednesday night, the lines hadn't caused any problems. Fire crews will continue to monitor the area. The flames are on private land, according to Utah County Fire Battalion Chief Jamie Nelson.
In an unrelated incident, a 50-acre brush fire broke out Wednesday evening in the Lincoln Beach area near Benjamin. Nelson said multiple agencies also responded to that blaze and fire crews were making good progress.
No injuries were reported in either fire, she said.
