Northeastern beats Drexel 93-83 in CAA opener

BOSTON (AP) — Vasa Pusica scored 29 points, Anthony Green had a career-high 21 points and 11 rebounds and Northeastern beat Drexel 93-83 on Friday night in a Colonial Athletic Association opener.

Northeastern (7-6, 1-0) has won seven consecutive CAA-openers and has beaten Drexel in seven of their last eight games. The Dragons (6-8, 0-1) have lost four of their last five games.

Pusica was 9 of 15 from the floor and Green was 9-of-10 shooting. Jordan Roland made five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points for the Huskies, who shot 56 percent (32 of 57) from the field.

Troy Harper scored 28 points to lead Drexel. Alihan Demir added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Northeastern took the lead for good midway through the first half, built a 41-36 halftime advantage and stretched it to 79-68 with 5:29 to play. The Dragons pulled to 80-74 but didn't get closer.
