SALT LAKE CITY — President Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is about to set out on another global ministry tour — this time to South America.
A press release issued by church officials Tuesday says President Nelson and his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, will be accompanied by Elder Gary E. Stevenson, of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and his wife, Sister Lesa Stevenson. The group plans to leave Salt Lake City on Oct. 19 and will visit five countries during the nine-day tour.
President Nelson and Elder Stevenson will “meet with government and religious leaders, members, missionaries and friends,” the statement says, in each of the following cities:
Church officials say the trip will culminate in the dedication of the Concepción Chile Temple on Oct. 28.
Last spring, President Nelson and his wife visited church members in eight countries during an 11-day global ministry tour that spanned four continents.
