ATHENS, Greece, Aug 23, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles is returning two ancient Greek artifacts to Greece by the end of the month.
The museum signed over the two sculptures following pressure from Greece, which claim that the sculptures were illegally taken from the country, Ekathimerini.com reported Wednesday.
One of the pieces is a sixth century B.C. marble statue depicting two women offering gifts to a seated goddess. The other is a tombstone from the fourth century B.C. bearing the figure of a young warrior.
Both sides agreed to hold more talks in Athens on the possible return of other antiques. Talks are also expected to focus on matters on which the two parties can work together in the future.
