WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan says he'll seek changes to the Republican health care bill to provide more help to older people who aren't yet eligible for Medicare. A Congressional Budget Office analysis has concluded that older people would likely pay higher premiums under the proposal to repeal and replace the current health care law. In a Fox interview, Ryan agreed that people in their 50s and 60s experience higher health care costs.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Documents the Justice Department and FBI delivered late last week to the House intelligence committee offer no evidence the Obama administration wiretapped Trump Tower as President Donald Trump said. That's according to the panel's top two lawmakers. But the panel's ranking Democrat says the material offers circumstantial evidence that U.S. citizens colluded with Russians in Moscow's efforts to interfere in the presidential election.
HONOLULU (AP) — A federal judge in Hawaii says there's nothing unclear about his order blocking President Donald Trump's revised travel ban. The judge says the government can't ask for a distinction that officials failed to make in earlier briefs and arguments. He rejected the Justice Department's request that he make clear that his order only applied to the ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries and not to a global freeze on refugees entering the U.S.
PALMETTO, Fla. (AP) — Florida police say a 47-year-old woman reported missing by friends was killed by her daughter's boyfriend. The Bradenton Herald reports the suspect, 26-year-old Roy Nichols Jr., was arrested early Saturday in a West Virginia truck stop along with Tricia Freeman's daughter. Palmetto's police chief says Nichols Jr. faces a second-degree murder charge and Freeman's daughter will be charged as an accessory to murder after the fact.
ROXBURY, N.J. (AP) — Crews have rescued a deer that was stuck in a frozen pond in New Jersey for nearly a day. The deer was pulled from the water in Roxbury this morning. But the animal initially struggled to walk on its own and it wasn't immediately known if it had suffered any injuries. The deer had gotten stuck about 60 yards off shore on Saturday morning. Crews worked for most of the day to free the animal, but had to suspend their efforts at dusk.
