TOKYO (AP) — The Korean Central News Agency says North Korea has successfully tested a new type of high-thrust engine to propel its rockets. Leader Kim Jong Un attended the test. The news agency says the test was intended to confirm the engine's thrust power and gauge the reliability of its control system and structural safety. The report Sunday indicates the engine is to be used for North Korea's space and satellite-launching program.
PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — There's another attempt at breaching White House security to report. President Donald Trump's press secretary says an individual was apprehended near the executive mansion on Saturday, a week after an intruder was caught on the grounds. Sean Spicer wrote on Twitter that the individual "jumped bike rack on Pennsylvania Ave" but did not make it onto White House property. Trump was not there. He's at his Florida resort.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — An original rock 'n' roller has died. Chuck Berry, who defined the music genre's joy and rebellion, died Saturday at his Missouri home at the age of 90. Berry influenced generations of musicians with classics such as "Johnny B. Goode," ''Sweet Little Sixteen" and "Roll Over Beethoven." Bruce Springsteen, via Twitter, said: "Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock 'n' roll writer who ever lived."
AUBURN, Ga. (AP) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting outside a grocery store in an Atlanta suburb. WSB-TV reports the Barrow County sheriff says the shooting happened Saturday afternoon in the store parking lot in Auburn. A 911 call came from the store about a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they found 51-year-old Dorothy Russell of Statham, Georgia, shot to death in a car. Her husband, 50-year-old Darrin Russell, has been charged.
NEW YORK (AP) — The son of a New York Fire Department medic fatally run over by a stolen ambulance on Thursday is urging her colleagues and loved ones to be humbled rather than sad in her memory. Jose Montes, the eldest of Yadira Arroyo's five sons, says "Learn to hold your family closer every day, because life is short." He spoke Saturday at the Bronx stationhouse where a foundation honoring first responders announced it's giving $100,000 to her family.
