(KSL News) Volunteers are setting up for the annual Carmelite Fair on the grounds of the monastery in Holladay.

The nuns who live there are cloistered. Their vocation is prayer, so this event is how they support themselves throughout the year. They say they are grateful to business people and volunteers of all faiths.

The fair, which takes place Sunday at 5714 Holladay Blvd., will include a Carmelite cafeteria, prize giveaway and entertainment from singers, dancers and musicians of different cultures.

This is very important to the sisters.

Sister Mary Joseph says, "Our living expenses like lights, telephones, gas, all of that. You know how expensive it is."

Sister Mary Joseph also says in years past, the fair has attracted from 2,500 to 4,000 visitors. It opens at 11 a.m. Sunday and runs until 5 p.m. For more details, see the link on this page.
