LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — De'Lance Turner blocked a punt deep in Texas Southern territory and ran it in on the next play for the deciding score as Alcorn State held off Texas Southern for a 23-20 victory on Saturday.

Turner broke through to block the punt and LaDarrien Davis recovered on Texas Southern's 2. Turner ran in from scrimmage for a 23-17 lead with 13:34 left in the fourth quarter.

Eric Medina kicked a 35-yard field goal as the Tigers closed to within three.

Lenorris Footman led Alcorn State (3-3, 3-2 SWAC), throwing for 196 yards and two scores, as the Braves garnered their fifth consecutive win over Texas Southern (3-3, 3-2). Norlando Veals was on the receiving end of both passing scores as he grabbed six passes for 106 yards.

Averion Hurts, who threw for 219 yards for the Tigers, hooked up with Austin Watts on five passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
