Cache Valley Electric, headquartered in Logan, has begun construction on a new Melt Shop for Nucor Steel in Jewett, Texas. The Melt Shop includes an Electric Arc Furnace, a Ladle Melt Furnace, and a new four strand Caster.

The National Science Foundation recently awarded a $1.3 million dollar grant to the Four Corners School of Outdoor Education in Monticello, Utah. The four-year grant is to fund Four Corners Schools’ TRRBOE [turbo] project. TRRBOE is a mentoring project for math and science in 48 elementary schools in the four-states area of the Colorado Plateau Bioregion.

And now for the Salt Lake Chamber committee-of-the-day: The Chamber’s Employment/Workplace Committee researches employment and labor law issues important to Chamber members.
