SAN FRANCISCO — Pac-12 fans have a reason to rejoice!
The conference announced Thursday a new agreement to bring the Pac-12 Networks to Sling TV, an internet-based subscription service for TV networks. The conference said all six regional channels, which includes the Pac-12 Mountain for Utah and Colorado games, will be included in the package.
“This is a great way for Pac-12 Networks to kick off the 2016 football season,” Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans said in a statement. “Sling’s innovative delivery model and great interface makes it incredibly easy for our fans to stay connected with their favorite Pac-12 school, team and sports.”
Since its inception, the Pac-12 Networks has only been available to Dish Network and Comcast Cable subscribers, but with limited distribution. The conference’s ability to ink a deal with DirecTV has failed over the years, leaving several subscribers without an option to watch games hosted on the conference’s network.
Under this new agreement, there will be no regional restrictions for those that subscribe to Sling TV.
“Students, alumni and Pac-12 fans can now enjoy conference games without regional restrictions,” Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch said in a statement. “With Sling TV, Pac-12 Networks games have never been more affordable and accessible. As a Pac-12 fan, I can’t wait to watch the ‘Conference of Champions’ on Sling TV — the premier destination for college sports fans.”
Sling TV offers two basic packages called Sling Orange, which features 25+ channels for $20, and Sling Blue, which features 40+ channels for $25. The Pac-12 Networks will be an add-on to either package: an extra $5 as part of the Sling Orange Sports Extra package and an extra $10 on the Sling Blue Sports Extra package.
