SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Joe Panik's two-home runs led a four-homer attack in San Francisco's 13-4 win over Atlanta. Panik matched his career high with four RBIs to help the Giants win just their second series since the All-Star break. They remain two games back of the Dodgers for first in the NL West.
NEW YORK (AP) — Kevin Gausman scattered seven hits in seven innings for his first road victory in 25 starts this season as Baltimore blanked the Yankees 5-0. Mark Trumbo hit his major league-leading 40th home run of the season for the Orioles who were outscored 27-9 in the first two games of the series.
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Patrick Reed's final round 1-under 70 helped him kick off the FedEx Cup playoffs with a one-shot win in The Barclays. Reed's first victory of the year qualified him for the US Ryder Cup team. Brandt Snedecker and Zach Johnson also earned Ryder Cup spots.
SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (AP) — Bernhard Langer rallied from five shots off the lead at the turn in the final round to win the Champions Tour Boeing Classic on the first playoff hole. Langer's birdie on the par-5 18th gave him the win over Woody Austin and Kevin Sutherland. It was Langer's fifth win of the year.
PRIDDIS, Alberta (AP) — Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn (ahr-EE'-uh JUH'-tan-uh-garn) shot a final round 6-under 66 to win the Canadian Pacific Women's Open by four shots for her fifth victory of the season, all in the last 10 tournaments. The Women's British Open champ's 23-under par total matched the tournament record.
