POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A judge says there's enough evidence that a 42-year-old Pocatello woman should face trial in the stabbing death of her brother. The Idaho State Journal reports that Kristina May Juarez is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Ronald Michael Christensen

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Emergency responders in communities along oil train routes in Washington state will start receiving advance notice of the shipments this fall. The Spokesman-Review reports that terminals, refineries and other facilities that receive crude oil by rail must begin notifying the state Department of Ecology in advance of shipments under a new rule adopted this week. The state will relay the information to local emergency responders.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — The South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is expected to remain closed this weekend because of a wildfire in Grand Teton. The closure of U.S. 89/191/287 that leads into Yellowstone is forcing some park visitors to take an hour-long detour.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Thurston County Sheriff's Office in Washington state says Sheriff John Snaza is showing signs of improvement after he was hurt in a Montana motorcycle crash. The Olympian reports Undersheriff Tim Braniff said Friday that Snaza remains in critical condition at a Coeur d'Alene, Idaho hospital and is still breathing with the help of a ventilator. But, he said Snaza is making strides toward breathing on his own.
