SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah man accused of killing a husband and wife during a two-state crime spree with his girlfriend is waiving his right to an evidence hearing in a case that could carry the death penalty.
Logan Welles McFarland was instead scheduled Tuesday to enter a plea in October to aggravated murder and other charges.
Prosecutors say he killed 70-year-old Leroy Fullwood and his 69-year-old wife, Dorothy Ann Fullwood in December 2011.
McFarland was extradited last year from Nevada, where he was serving up to 56 years in prison for six felonies including kidnapping and car theft.
McFarland's ex-girlfriend, Angela Marie Hill, is facing burglary charges in Utah and has also waived an evidence hearing. She testified against McFarland in Nevada.
Their defense attorneys did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
