Followers of Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr tore down walls and poured into the heavily guarded area on Saturday, storming parliament. It was the culmination of months of sit-ins and demonstrations calling for political reform.
ISTANBUL (AP) — A Kurdish militant group is claiming responsibility for a suicide attack in the Turkish city of Bursa that wounded 13 people earlier this week. The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons, also known as TAK, issued a statement on Sunday identifying the female bomber. The 23-year-old blew herself up near an Ottoman-era mosque in Bursa's historic district on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Bernie Sanders is acknowledging that his path to the Democratic presidential nomination depends on flipping superdelegates. They're the party insiders who can back either candidate and are now overwhelmingly behind Hillary Clinton. Sanders is calling on superdelegates to cast their votes, as he puts it, "in line with the people of their states.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Prince's personal chef says the music superstar was battling sore throats and frequent upset stomachs in his final months. Ray Roberts says Prince had recently been asking for items like smoothies and freshly squeezed juices that were easier to digest. He says he felt Prince "wasn't himself" in the months before he was found dead at his Minneapolis home on April 21.
BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in Arizona say a man remains hospitalized at a Phoenix burn unit after being struck by lightning. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the 31-year-old man was horseback riding in a Phoenix suburb Saturday afternoon when he was struck. The rider, who suffered burns on his upper body, is expected to survive. The horse died instantly.
