IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Education company Pearson has told the state it plans to eliminate nearly five dozen jobs at its Iowa City office.
Iowa Workforce Development communications director Courtney Greene told the Iowa City Press-Citizen (http://icp-c.com/1Srg1qK ) that Pearson notified the agency Tuesday that it would lay off 57 employees in about 30 days. The company gave no reason for the cutback.
In January Pearson said it would be trimming its global workforce of 40,000 by about 10 percent.
