It's usually the other way around: gas prices are much cheaper in Nevada than in Utah right now. We're not talking pennies, either.
Gas is 15 cents cheaper in Las Vegas and about 19 cents less in Reno. Nevada gets gas from California, so it's usually more expensive than gas in Utah, not cheaper. So what gives?
"We tend to be a little bit slower going up, and then we tend to be a little slower going down. But on average, Utah has historically been pretty competitive when it comes to gasoline prices," said Utah Petroleum Association President Lee Peacock.
He says over time we'll even out, and prices have a lot to do with competition, so shop around for the best price.
