JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A university student and graduate of Episcopal School of Jacksonville was one of only 26 young people from 19 countries chosen to attend Nobel Prize Week in Stockholm.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1ZtPwVr ) reports 19-year-old Carly Crump spent nine days in Sweden in December, presenting a research project to about 1,000 Swedish high school students.
The University of Florida freshman spent the week discussing her work involving mosquitoes. Her project evolved from offering blood meals to the insects to studying the proteins involved in the transmission of the dengue virus.
During her trip, Crump also attended lectures, a concert, the opening of the Nobel Creations Exhibition, the Nobel Prize Award ceremony and the Royal Banquet dinner at the Royal Palace.
She is currently studying microbiology and wants to be a surgeon.
