Gibbs, Miller rally UConn past Houston 69-57

HOUSTON (AP) — Sterling Gibbs scored 20 points, Shonn Miller added 14, including the last eight of the game, and UConn closed on a 16-3 run to defeat Houston 69-57 on Sunday.

Gibbs started the run with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 59-54 lead with 5:21 left. After a Houston free throw at 4:14, Gibbs made two free throws and he answered a Cougars basket by feeding Miller for a dunk with 2:07 remaining. Miller also scored the final three baskets after two Houston misses and a turnover.

Daniel Hamilton also had 14 points for the Huskies (12-5, 3-2 American) and Jalen Adams had 13.

Rob Gray Jr. led Houston (13-4, 3-2) with 15 in the low-scoring game between teams averaging 80.8 (Cougars) and 76.8 points.

Houston led 35-28 at the half as Gray scored 12 points but Gibbs and Miller combined for 25 in the second half when UConn shot 48 percent and made 11 of 12 free throws.
