SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Wildlife advocates are planning news conferences and rallies in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona to call out state leaders for trying to keep their lands out of a potential recovery zone for the Mexican gray wolf. A spokesman with the Western Wildlife Conservancy says government leaders in the four Western states are spreading inaccuracies. The Mexican wolf, a smaller subspecies of the gray wolf, is an endangered species.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Police in southern Utah are investigating after two hikers found a woman's body in a stream. Authorities say there were no immediate signs of foul play on the body found near a trail in St. George. Police say it appears the woman died recently. Her name was not immediately released.

PHOENIX (AP) — The brother of polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs doesn't have to testify at an upcoming trial that will examine allegations that two towns on the Arizona-Utah line have discriminated against nonbelievers. The judge said he wasn't persuaded by the U.S. Justice Department's claim that it will be prejudiced if Lyle Jeffs doesn't testify. Justice Department lawyers can still show jurors Jeffs' deposition.

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Police say a Utah couple has been rescued after becoming stranded in the wilderness and spending the night in their car. The Spectrum of St. George reports that the Cedar City pair was stranded for a day when their vehicle became stuck in the snow near Lund. Authorities say the man and woman are in good health.
