RIVERTON — It will be a long, cold and possibly snowy night for Foothills Elementary School principal Howard Griffith.

After his students met a charity fundraising challenge, Griffith has pitched a tent and made a temporary home on the school's rooftop where he will stay overnight, not coming down until the morning bell rings for the start of school on Friday.

Griffith told the student body if they managed to raise $2,500 for "Warm The Soles," a charity that provides new shoes and socks for needy children at an area Boys and Girls Club, he would camp out on the school's roof overnight.

Students met the challenge and raised more than $2,500.
